NOWSHERA, Sept 24: Chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Maulana Samiul Haq has said the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal is fast becoming a two-party alliance.

Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, Maulana Sami, a member of the upper house of parliament, said the two major components of the MMA continuously ignored the JUI-S and other smaller parties, thereby, creating differences and resentment among the alliance components.

“We want to take decisions on our own and do not want to be compelled,” he said, adding the MMA had yet to overcome the difficulties.

He said the matter would be raised in the provincial executive council meeting of the party to be held on Oct 5 in Abbottabad.

The Maulana said the Jamaat-i-Islami and the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam of Maulana Fazlur Rehman had hijacked the six-party alliance and ignored the smaller allies.

The JUI-S and all the other smaller components, he stressed, had also played a vital role in the landslide victory of the MMA in the general elections. It was, therefore, unfair that only two parties should ignore the other allies and create problems for the government and the public, he added.
