Welcome to Dawn.com’s live coverage of the Pool B must-win encounter between Pakistan and Ireland.

Both Pakistan and Ireland would be looking for a win to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Pakistan managed to clinch back-to-back victories over Zimbabwe, United Arab Emirates and South Africa after suffering two consecutive defeats at the hands of India and West Indies.

Meanwhile a promising Irish side has also grabbed three victories over West Indies, United Arab Emirates and Zimbabwe and suffered defeats to South Africa and India.

Windies will win by a large margin So pak MUST win the game else they are out. 1992 was different pak sneaked in by run rate and then luck favored the team for the next games

Windies are hammering UAE. They are indirectly hammering Pakistan, since with a higher run rate they will nudge out Pakistan should Ireland get the better of Pakistan - a prospect that is likely.

Poor decision to not play Younis Khan.. especially when Pak has to chase today. They needed experience against the pressure that will develop. Another poor decision to play Ehsan instead of Yasir Shah. Not sure about this one.

If someone ever wonders why some teams can never win at a reasonable level, here's the answer: high level sport is a lot about handling pressure and about not losing confidence in such situations. Pakistan has found its mojo, or so it seems, so we can expect them to win. BD is playing like they can win the World Cup, but that's where the defense comes into picture - they are losing on that count. Teams with strong defense win. At this time, Pakistan, India, New Zealand and Australia are handling pressure well and have strong defense. They should be in the semis. SA losing on handling pressure.

Bad captaincy by Misbah to wear out his strike bowler in easier matches earlier, when he (Irfan) was clearly struggling towards the end during Pakistan's very first match (against India). Hope he isn't missed that acutely today. All the best Pak...

Why not playing Asif Shah in this crucial match. Something is not right. They like to come back sooner. And why the heck this Irfan is injured game in and game out. All our players are weak. I say, Ireland will beat Pakistan.

This team management looks to be out of touch with cricket. Playing Ehsan Adil is the worst thing they could do today. I just wonder why didn't they play Yasir Shah? They can be made to pay for this choice.

West Indies is the third team in the pool to go to QFs. They played like champions. Now the winner of Ireland-Pak will be the fourth one. 13 overs gone. Another 87 overs to go. Loser will return. All the best! Who ever handles pressure will go ahead. I believe Irish can handle pressure better.

@aftab If Pakistan wins this one - a better than even chance - it will meet Australia in QF. So both Pakistan and Australia cannot be in the semis. Ireland at 171/4 after 36 overs and o Brien yet to pad up is in no mood to give a walkover though.

238 to win. Pak has done pretty well to restrict them. I guess they are pretty well in QFs unless they try something stupid like hitting all over rather than building a good solid partnership. Boring cricket is required rather than sensational cricket.

Still not able to understand what was going on for the last 35-40 minutes. It seemed like both Sarfaraz and Akmal were not looking at the team dug out at all. IMO there are a lot of issues within the team itself and individuals are only trying to prove their contribution. Does not look so good for Pakistan.

Once again sarfrazfails with the gloves umar akmal took more catches then him which proves the decision to play akmal as keeper in first games also sarfraz is not a opening atsman not 1 six although he batted for the full innings. hopefully we will be able to drop him for quarter finals and get big nas (specialist opener ) back in no silly questions this time please
