HYDERABAD, Sept 24: The executive district officer (EDO) community development department (CDD), Ibrahim Qureshi has said the government is giving top priority to capacity building of women.

He was speaking at a meeting held here on Wednesday at the Shahbaz Hall to discuss holding of a training workshop for 100 women councillors of Hyderabad and other districts.

He said the government had signed an agreement with the Strengthening Participatory Organisation (SPO) and the British Council to improve interaction between women councillors and women at the grass roots level.

He said training of 100 women councillors would encourage women in the district. He stressed upon women councillors to keep close liaison with government institutions working for the welfare of community.

He said the district government was also planning different programmes to encourage women especially in the field of education.

He stressed for better coordination among government institutions to ensure integrated development in society.

SPO coordinator Shazia Junejo assured the meeting that training workshop for 100 councillors would prove a milestone for women.

EDO (agriculture) Shahabuddin Siddiqui, DO (revenue) Dr Altaf Khero, DO (health) Shamsuddin Sehto, EDO (law) Ali Ahmed Jamali and Afsheen Memon of the SPO attended the meeting.
