Dates for Chinese president’s visit being finalised: Sartaj

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Friday said the Chinese President will visit Pakistan very soon, adding that dates for the visit were being finalised through diplomatic channels.
Talking to newsmen here, he said efforts were being made to finalise the date.
Replying to a question about the visit of Indian Minister for External Affairs to Pakistan and talks between the two foreign secretaries, the adviser said there was no serious progress in these talks but they could be termed as start of future talks between the two countries.
He said although the two foreign secretaries discussed all the issues and concerns of the two countries and still there was need to achieve some progress on the dialogue process and expressed the hope that there could be progress in these talks in future.
He said there was no breakthrough in the recently held talks between the two foreign secretaries.
Mr Sartaj Aziz said no date had been fixed for the next round of talks.

3 months back you sir were discussing why to go after AF Taliban during BBC Urdu interview. Funny thing is that I believe that it is in the short term interest of PK. Why would you turn your asset into your enemy? Wether that is in the long term interest of PK is totally different question.
Everybody is confused about your policy so discussion cannot bring break through. Maybe you yourself are confused. There is real dichotomy in your society. There will be backlash whichever direction you go. you waited for so much bloodshed which finally drove some consensus among the society.
Unfortunately most of the sections still don't have sympathy towards the loss of innocent in other country. I don't know what has to happen to change that.
At max I hope that both of nations will work on at least finding a protocol to stop cross border killing of civilians.

Why so much obsession to get china president into pakistan??
Will china president going to change fortune of pakistan or its just sense of insecurity in pakistan (govt) mind & hence wanted to prove that china is still pakistan's best friend?

China is a very important diplomatic relationship for Pakistan. Pakistan has been extremely skilled in the past to take advantage of strategic relationships to its benefit. This is another opportunity.

Pakistan's ruling elites needs to quickly wake up and smell the coffee. They need to understand in which direction winds are blowing. In 2015 itself India is going to be the fastest growing major economy overtaking China. With US withdrawing from Afghanistan and oil prices down, US and Saudi money taps will not keep flowing forever. Chinese president is not going to do anything which spoils atmospherics before Mr Modi's May visit to China. Pakistan risks further isolation in an inter-connected world if it follows same old ways. Time to get economy back in shape, initiate action against terrorists of all hues, give up 'anti-India' pretence and concentrate on good governance to remove extremism and poverty.

Pakistan day can be officially observed in China with a military parade by Pakistan army , recitation of sweeter than honey and taller than Mountains type poems by Nawaz sharif. If only we can get the Chinese president to attend it in China. Few pictures with the chinese president would be a morale booster for the 'leadership'

"Efforts" are by Pakistani side to some how bring him to Pakistan to show to India (and rest of the world) that it is still sweeter than honey and higher than himalayas from Pakistani side. However, we do not hear of any "Efforts" from the Chinese side. He is not coming for the Mar23. More or less same investment deals signed with India after successful visit almost several month ago. Is it still sweeter than honey and taller than himalayas from the Chinese side?

We should not worry about expected visit of Chinese President, China presence in the region and Chinese investment in Pakistan. Both countries have long lasting relationship with each other.

You have to put "efforts" to invite Chinese president, China which is sweeter than honey friend. While Modi and USA had not so sweet relations yet Obama came to India. This is like "on demand", Obama couldnt refuse.

@Bahadur only difference, Obama came to tell off Modi and told him what he has to do, including respect minorities. Chinese president is coming to pakistan to discuss economic enhancement, regional issues ,one poor problematic country in the region and ofcourse Gawadar.

There is no credibility of what the senior officials say in Pak. They keep saying, Pak citizens keep rejoicing, awaiting the arrival of the messiah and then phut.
When Indian newspapers mentioned a month back, the Pak senior officials refuted such claims and stated it is in place. So zero credibility.
Any rational guy would have known that the Chinese premier has better things to do rather than provide you dope to get even with your hated neighbor.
