LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) allotted alternate plots to 1,278 of the total 2,894 affectees of the LDA Avenue-1 through a computerized balloting held at Johar Town here on Wednesday.

Since it was the second phase of allotting alternate plots to the affectees, they (affectees) succeeded in getting plots after a period of 11 years.

LDA Director General Ahad Khan Cheema supervised the balloting amid presence of senior LDA officials and media.

The allotted plots were fully developed and owners could take over the possession in one day and start construction of their houses without any delay, according to a spokesman of the LDA.

List of these plots has been uploaded on LDA’s website www.lda.gop.pk.

The issue of handing over possession of 2,894 plots of the LDA Avenue-1, including 1,007 of one kanal and 1,887 of 10 marlas, to their allottees had been pending due to litigation since the launch of the scheme in 2003 when all 10,983 applicants had been allotted plots in the first-ever housing scheme for government employees.

“The sitting LDA management took a firm decision to resolve the lingering issue and spearheaded its team for creating 1,599 extra plots in clear area of the scheme through tireless and dedicated efforts spanning over one year,” the spokesman said.

At least 321 alternate plots had already been allotted through the first phase of balloting held on Jan 24 this year to those affectees whose plots had been deleted due to re-planning of the scheme.

Software for this purpose had been developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board. “The rest of affectees will also be allotted alternate plots in the third phase as soon as the litigation issues in the scheme are resolved,” the spokesman told Dawn.

LDA’s Additional Director General (HQ) Amina Munir, Chief Town Planner Chaudhry Muhammad Akram, Finance Director Zaheer Asghar Rana, Revenue Director Farqaleet Meer, Administration Director Khalid Pervaiz, Estate Management Avenue-1 director Nadeem Abbas Bhangu and other officers concerned were also present.
