KARACHI: Knight Club fought back from a match down to register a 2-1 victory over Pafian in the first fully stretched u-18 encounter of four-a-side (half court) basketball tournament at the Arambagh floodlit court here on Tuesday.

Knight, who lost their opening battle against Shah Wilayat School straight, fought courageously to seize a 12-18, 36-18, 23-21 victory over fighting Pafian.

Shah Wilayat School, meanwhile, conjured up their second straight win over Apsians Club. They were home 28-8, 25-12. This was latter’s second defeat in-a-row as they had lost to Pafian in the opening fixture.

In the seniors competition, having lost their first fixture, the Dow International Medical College (DIMC)-3 registered their first victory by getting the better of Clifton Crossovers 34-22, 47-41 in a keenly fought match.

In the next match, DIMC-2 sent Gulshan Club packing 44-34, 17-8 to post their second straight victory. This was latter’s second successive defeat.

In an evenly fought match, Arambagh Club were home against DIMC-I straight to earn first victory in two matches.

The two teams ended the first game in a 36-36 stalemate and the referee awarded it to the former on the pretext that the match could not proceed as two DIMC-I players had fouled out leaving one in the court.

The losers should curse themselves as their fourth and substitute player had not come.

The second game was also tied 36-all in the stipulated time and in the five-minute extra time that ensued Arambagh enhanced their lead to 46 as against 44 of DIMC-I.

Meanwhile, Nishtar Club got a walkover against National Club following injury to two players of their team in earlier match.
