HARIPUR, Sept 22: Bodies of the three missing children who had drowned on Sunday evening in a boat capsize in Tarbela lake with three other children could not be recovered as the local and navy divers continued their search for the second day on Monday.

An over-loaded ferry carrying children and lady picnickers of three families capsized in the Tarbela lake near village Narra Khalabat Township, some nine kilometres of the bank. Six drowned in the incident.

The bodies of three children — Mohsib Shah, 12, Ayesha Bibi, 10, and Sundas Bibi, 11 — were fished out by the local divers who also managed to rescue 12 ladies and children from drowning.

The bodies of Uzair Shah, 8, a six-year-old girl and an infant of only three months could not be recovered.

It was reported that the divers who started their operation in the morning and remained busy till late in the evening encountered difficulties in fishing out the bodies due to the lake’s depth and its muddy bottom.
