PESHAWAR, Sept 22: The city police arrested three alleged kidnappers of two groups and seized illegal arms from them here on Monday at Ring Road, near Hayatabad township.

An official statement says police on a tip-off had set up checkpoints on various roads leading to Hayatabad township and arrested three armed men identified as Amin Jan, son of Mohammad Sadique; Miandad alias Javed, son of Zardad, and Zahid.

The police also seized two Kalashnikovs, five hand grenades, one pistol and 115 cartridges of different bore from their possession.

The accused during an interrogation confessed that they were members of notorious Syial and Mujahid groups, and disclosed that they were going to kidnap a businessman of Hayatabad.

On their information, the police had also seized a large number of booty robbed in over a dozen robberies in the city, the official statement added.
