KARACHI, Dec 22: The administrator and three members of the security staff of Aladin Park have been named in the FIR lodged at Gulistan-i-Jauhar police station for raping a girl student in the administration block of the park.

Police registered the FIR 403/2001 for keeping the girl in illegal confinement, torturing her and raping her on Dec 7. She went to the park with her boy friend, Tauseef, a student, where they were apprehended by the park’s security staff. They were charged with indulging in obscene activities. They were brought to the administration block of the park, where Tauseef was beaten up and forced to go out of the park. The girl was kept inside, and she was raped. The girl was freed after midnight on Dec 7, and she went to Gulistan-i- Jauhar police station to lodge the FIR. She named the administrator of Aladin Park, Zamir Siddiqui, a staff member, Amir Iqbal, and two others in the FIR for raping her.

However, the director of the park, Ibrahim Shamsi, contested the police’s claim, saying that Zamir Siddiqui had gone to perform Umrah before the date of the incident and he had not joined his duty so far. Amir Iqbal had disappeared after the case was registered, he added.

The SHO Gulistan-i-Jauhar police station, Yasin Gujjar, said: “Initial investigations show that it is not the only such case, but several such cases have been reported to police before this. The administrator and his accomplices harass couples and take them to the administration block where they rape the girls.”

Ibrahim Shamsi said: “I have checked at my level, and it is impossible that this kind of incident could take place on the park premises.”
