HYDERABAD: US Consul General in Karachi Brian Heath was on Tuesday briefed about basic facilities being provided to citizens in Hyderabad, development work and environment for business, trade and commercial activities in the division.

Mr Heath called on Hyderabad Commissioner Syed Asif Haider to keep himself abreast of the environment and potential of the district.

Mr Haider informed him that efforts were being made to improve people’s standard of living in the division.

He said that a large number of big and small industries were functioning in the Hyderabad industrial zone (SITE) while there were 70 such units in the Nooriabad industrial zone in Jamshoro district.

Electricity was being generated through wind corridors set up in Thatta, Sujawal, Jherruk, Badin and Hyderabad while 30 local and foreign companies were engaged in establishing more wind corridors.

“Hyderabad is a peaceful city as compared to Karachi, therefore, local and foreign people are making investment in this city,” he said, adding that all possible steps were being taken to maintain law and order in the division.
