PESHAWAR, Sept 21: The local transporters association has criticized the deputy director terminals for charging double taxes from public transports of Khyber Agency at Karkhano markets bus stand in the city, said a press release issued here on Sunday.

The Public Transport Owners Association, NWFP, in its meeting held at a local hotel in the city, accused the deputy director terminals for the imposition of double taxes on the public transports of Jamrood and Landi Kotal, at Karkhano markets bus stand in the city.

The meeting presided over by Haji Jehangir Khan Afridi, claimed that a few days ago, an official called the transporters of Khyber Agency at his office and threatened them to pay dual taxes otherwise they would not be allowed to ply on the roads.

The meeting termed the threats illegal and vowed that they would not pay dual taxes to the government at all cost.

The meeting warned that if the government did not stop collecting dual taxes, the transporters would held a wheel-jam strike.
