World women moot on Oct 4

PESHAWAR, Sept 20: Arrangements for holding an international conference of women were reviewed at a meeting held here on Saturday.

The conference will be held in Peshawar on Oct 4.

About 60 delegates of the International Muslim Women Union (IMWU) from 40 countries, women legislators, representatives of women welfare organizations, doctors, professors, councillors and heads of girls colleges will attend the conference.

The meeting presided over by Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Women Development Hafiz Hashmat Khan was attended by MNAs Shabbir Ahmad Khan, Razia Aziz, MPAs Shagufta Naz, Zubaida Iqbal, Peshawar district Nazim Azam Afridi, Administration Secretary Col Ghulam Hussain (retd), officers of chief minister’s secretariat, information, social welfare and administrative departments.

The IMWU delegation is scheduled to visit Pakistan in connection with a peace conference to be held in Islamabad from Sept 30 to Oct 7.

Its open session will be held in Nishtar Hall, Peshawar, on Oct 4.

NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani will be the chief guest on this occasion.

The meeting also reviewed food, accommodation and transport arrangements and also constituted a committee headed by deputy secretary of administration to finalize the same. Another meeting would be held on Sept 27 to give final touches to the arrangements.
