CHENNAI (India), Sept 19: Captain Saurav Ganguly was out for a duck as Rest of India were dismissed for 202, giving national champions Mumbai a 95-run first-innings lead in India’s premier domestic five-day match on Friday.

Left-hander Ganguly, who needed only 10 to reach 10,000 first-class runs, was caught at gully when he misread a flighted delivery by off spinner Ramesh Powar.

Mumbai, who scored 297 in their first innings thanks to a fighting 94 by skipper Sachin Tendulkar, were 11 for no loss at the close on the second day of the annual Irani Cup.

India vice-captain Rahul Dravid top-scored for the Rest with a breezy 69-ball 41, adding 81 for the second wicket with opener Sanjay Bangar (29), before he flicked Powar straight into the hands of Tendulkar at mid-wicket.

Dravid’s dismissal sparked a batting collapse and it was only a 43-run last-wicket stand between Zaheer Khan (34) and Lakshmipathy Balaji (12 not out) that gave the total some respectability.

India, who have not played test cricket since December, host New Zealand in a two-match series next month.
