An election commission official said that prospective candidates were required to attach party ticket with their nomination papers. However, if for any reason the party certificate cannot be attached, the same must be produced at the time of scrutiny of nomination papers, failing which the papers would be liable to be rejected. The condition will not apply to the independent candidates.

Nomination papers to be received on Feb 12, 13

He said the proposer and seconder were required to be present in person before the returning officer at the time of scrutiny of nomination papers of a candidate to whom they have supported.

In case the proposer or seconder are not present at the time of scrutiny, the nomination papers will be rejected summarily by the returning officer.

The term of 52 senators will be completed on March 11.

The polling will be held on March 3 at the Parliament House building in Islamabad and provincial assembly buildings in all four provinces.
