KARACHI: Five upsets — three in boys and two in girls contests — highlighted the second day of the National Bank of Pakistan fourth Rehana Nazar national junior squash championship which entered last four stage at Rehana Nazar Squash Complex, Rashidabad, district Tando Allahyar, on Sunday.

Ali Karamat created quite a stir when he shocked second seed Mansoor Zaman straight 11-7, 13-11, 11-1 in the boys under-17 quarter-final. This was Mansoor’s back-to-back defeat as he had lost to Iqtedar Khan in quarters of the recently held Champion Hunt Initiative Programme for Squash (CHIPS) in the city.

Fourth seed Talha Alam went down to Zeeshan Zeb straight 5-11, 5-11, 10-12 in under-15 quarters while Rashid Dulat sent third seed Humza Sharif packing 11-9, 6-11, 11-8, 11-9.

Meanwhile, unseeded Roshail Shaikh and Aiman Shahbaz pulled of stunning upsets in girls under-19 and under-15 categories respectively. The former was home 11-3, 11-9, 11-9 over third seed Maria Saleem while the latter defeated third seed Fehmina Asim 13-11, 12-10, 11-6 to surge into last four.
