LAHORE: A well-attended exhibition of thesis work of students from the Hunerkada College of Visual and Performing Arts left many art enthusiasts amazed and inspired through the ideas and thoughts the students presented in their projects.

The art show was jointly inaugurated by Hunerkada Chairman Jamal Shah and prominent TV artiste Prof Dr Muhammad Akram Chaudhry, vice chancellor of the University of Sargodha, at Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall, on Friday. Around 100 artworks are on display at the exhibition.

Hunerkada Principal Rukhsana Hasan sharing her views on the annual thesis display told Dawn that students had come up with thought-provoking works. She said students from fine arts, graphic design, textile, sculpture, product design and miniature departments had displayed their theses in the context of social and political stigmas the society was faced with.

Khadija Liaquat, a student of communication design, introduced a game for deaf and visually impaired children aged between four and seven. Her game was inspired by the life of renowned deaf-blind activist, lecturer and author Helen Keller.

“I have named my game Animdo that refers to Ludo,” Khadija said, adding that the game would hopefully become popular among special children.

Another student Zahra Fatima’s thesis was inspired by ancient cities of Indus Valley Civilisation, Mohenjodaro and Harappa. She designed her products in an amalgamation of modern and ancient times.

Fatima Butt’s thesis dealt with the idea of co-relating basic learning of alphanumeric alphabets with miniature paintings.

The exhibition will remain on display till Sunday (tomorrow).
