KARACHI: Four killed in accidents

KARACHI Sept 19: Four persons including a policeman and a minor died in accidents in different parts of the city on Friday.

A policeman died in a road traffic accident in Defence on Friday. Police said that Mohammad Fayyaz, who was posted as reader of DSP Mehmoodabad, was going on his motorcycle when an unidentified vehicle knocked him down at Khayaban-i-Shamsheer. The policeman died on the spot while his associate identified as Raqib was injured. Both the dead and the injured were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

An eight-year-old girl was knocked down to death by a water tanker in Jamshed Quarters. Police said that Zara, daughter of Ghulam Mohammad, was playing in Muslimabad when she was knocked down. She was taken to the Civil Hospital, police said.

A speeding water tanker killed a young man and injured two others on M.A. Jinnah Road. Police said that three persons Noor Ahmed, Kashif and Shahzad were going on a motorcycle when they were knocked down by the tanker (JP-0736) near Tibet Centre.

The three men were taken to the Civil Hospital, where Noor Ahmed was pronounced dead while two others were admitted for treatment. Police claimed to have arrested the tanker driver.

In Site, an unidentified woman died in a road accident on Friday evening. Police said that a minibus (JF-1044) ran over a pavement near Seimens chowrangi and hit an unidentified woman. Police said that the woman was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
