SUKKUR: Two members of a polio team were injured when a group of six men armed with hatchets and clubs attacked it in Bahadurpur village near Thull town in Jacobabad district on Wednesday.

Officials at the Dilmurad police station said that the two brothers, Saifullah Jamali and Sikandar Jamali, were administering polio drops to children in the village when they were attacked. They said some onlookers identified the man leading the attackers as Mumtaz Jamali but the motive for the attack could not be ascertained immediately.

The injured polio workers were taken to the Thull Taluka Hospital for treatment.

Residents of Bahadurpur village said the polio workers were without any police escort. They said the area police visited the crime scene when they were informed of the attack. An FIR of the attack had not been registered till late in the evening.
