Unfit Junaid Khan ruled out of World Cup

Pakistan's left-arm fast bowler Junaid Khan was ruled out of the upcoming World Cup after failing to pass his fitness test, he said Monday.
Junaid suffered a hamstring injury in his right leg after he slipped and fell while bowling during the third day of the national training camp at the Gaddafi Stadium before Pakistan's departure for New Zealand.
“Junaid appeared in a fitness test and was not found fit enough to play the World Cup,” a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) spokesman said.
Junaid was one of the senior bowlers in Pakistan’s pace attack, which includes Mohammad Irfan, Wahab Riaz, and up-and-coming Ehsan Adil.

"I'm sorry I couldn't pass the fitness test. But perhaps this was God's will. My prayers are with the Pakistan team," Junaid tweeted.

The development comes as a big blow to Pakistan who are already without the services of the suspended Saeed Ajmal and Mohammad Hafeez and the injured Umar Gul for the World Cup.
Bilawal Bhatti, who replaced Junaid for Pakistan's two-match series against New Zealand, is expected to fill his place in the World Cup squad as well.
Shoaib Malik, Sohail Tanvir and Azhar Ali, meanwhile, have been been put on stand-by by the touring committee and there is a possibility that Pakistan don't opt for a like-for-like replacement.

Being a passionate Pakistan Cricket fan, i feel disheatened to hear this news. I would have been the last person to say this but i see the chances of Pakistan to go even in the quertar finals are minimal! We have the weekest bowling at the moment!

This is complete failure of PCB again .... In 2007 Shoaib Akhtar and Mohd Asif banned because of dope test. 2011 Amir and Asif was banned because of Match fixing and now 2015 Umer Gul and Junaid Khan are missing world cup due to injuries apart from Saeeed Ajmal and Hafeez suspended because of bowling action...
We do not have any back up of either bowlers or batsman and this story is going on again and again...
The people sitting in PCB Najam Sethi, Sharyar Khan 80 years, Zakir Khan must leave now including coaches who are all taking high salaries and benefits without giving any good back up of players who can take the position of injured and old players.

@Selectors please think about Pakistan and select Tabish Khan.. He is much better than Sohail Khan, Ehsan Adil, Bilawal Bhatti , Sohail Tanvir and Wahab Riaz.

@Asad I agree. He should not be paid when he is not fit. Perhaps he will then learn to concentrate on his fitness. It is absurd to pay someone for 12 months and then he works for only perhaps two or three.

This is PCB last chance to save face by naming a proper replacement - it is not Bhatti, it is not Sohail Tanvir, they need a bowling allrounder or better yet, counter it with bolstering batting and send Fawad Alam...seeing as it is the fickle top order (comprising of YK and Hafeez) - PCB has 2 choices if they must send a bowling replacement
1. Anwar Ali
2. Shoaib Malik
As much as I hate Shoaib Malik, I put him down because if there are political reasons for Anwar Ali to have not been named in the squad from the get-go they have to go with Shoaib Malik...to remedy whatever mess they created in not taking Fawad Alam

Sadaf Hussain can be a very good replacement. His domestic avg on the flat wickets is very good. Also Zafar Gohar can be a very good alround option. Wish these would have been in the squad instead of Ehsan Adil and Sohail Khan.

Whatever happened to that new lad, Imran Khan, who played so well against the Aussies? He seemed to have good control of swing, seam and bounce. His pace was decent, if not express, but could have been a handful in Australia.

Big blow. even bigger than ajmal in these conditions. without junaid, only irfan pose some threat but cant do that much damage alone. wahab/ sohail and adil are not good enough. bowling was already weak and now without junaid it will be a big problem. bhatti may be a replacement but pcb should also think about umar gul.
hafeez will have to get his action cleared. if he fails it then team can not be balanced at all. 4 bolwers only works if main bowlers are good. whereas pak's fast bowling is below average for some time. which is strange as they have waqar with team. irfan should have been more lethal and wahab , who is well supported by waqar, should have improved by now.
on top of that, extra batsman is not helping at all. so no point playing 4 bolwers when you will still score 200 with extra batsman.
if hafeez fails test then it will total chaos.

@A Pakistani , Wish it was so easy to judge a player. You can always pick wicket taking deliveries of any bowler and put them together to make such a vedio. Tabish haven't done wonders in the first class cricket and those who have achieved better results like Sohail Khan are failing too on international scene and this confirms that our first class is no worth.
