Junaid Khan pulls hamstring

LAHORE: Injury-prone paceman Junaid Khan was left with a hamstring problem in his right thigh after he slipped and fell while bowling during the third day of the national training camp at the Gaddafi Stadium here on Thursday.

The camp is in progress as part of the preparations of the Pakistan World Cup-2015 squad. The left-handed Junaid has missed a lot of cricket due to fitness problems recently.

“According to initial examination, the injury isn’t of serious nature and the bowler is icing it. If there will be no improvement by Friday, further steps will be taken for Junaid’s early recovery,” a PCB spokesman said.

Junaid is one of the senior bowlers in Pakistan’s pace attack, which also has seasoned bowlers like Mohammad Irfan, Wahab Riaz, and up-and-coming Ehsan Adil.

And this will happen right after 1-2 games in the actual competition. There is a reason why people are not supporting this selection. Apparently selection committee is seeing something else. A nation of 20 crore ....something else. We know who is right.

Thanks to sectors. Junaid is doubtful. Irfan can be unfit any time. Sohail, yasir, ehsaan never played international cricket in past years. Now only wahab riaz is left who is really world class but only in the eyes of PCB.

Hamstring injury lingers around and doesn't get fixed so easily. Anwar Ali is a good option since he can hold the bat for a bit. Wahab Riaz is shouldn't have been selected in the first place!

Unfit to be cricket player.Better take up some other sport.Your body will not last whole tournament.Give opportunity to others who are fit enough.Even Irfan looks gone any moment.They simply are so weak.

Any thoughts of replacing him with Anwer Ali or Bhatti will destroy any chances of winning a single match against major teams. They both are mediocre at best.

why does Junaid Khan always gets Injured during a practice session. Maybe he should skip practice altogether LOL. Plus Care should be taken during practice session to avoid injury. Looks like PCB practice session are more likely to cause injuries than actually playing cricket.

Great opportunity now to include an fast bowler all rounder and I think the best option is Anwar Ali who is also a very good fielder. He will be very effective in New Zealand wickets also.

The tour selection committee needs to drop Junaid Khan as he will be a hesitant performer. Amazingly 4 of the fast bowlers have been nursing injuries in the recent past. PCB must have two fast bowlers, Sohail Tanvir, Mohammad Sami and Imran, ready for travel on a moment notice.

Why no one talks about Sadaf Hussain. He has 247 wickets from only 51 first class matches and 36 wickets from 20 List A games. He is genuinely pacy and a left hand bowler. He should be a wild card entry.

@Azam Jamil Can you please stop criticising comments like this, everyone have their own style. What's your problem with his hop. What matters for us is his performance. And he is a good wicket taking bowler. He's our only option right now. So just keep calm and criticising him.

If he stays injured, Pakistan has two options, either to replace him with Rahat Ali who can also swing both ways or let Saeed Ajmal replace him if Ajmal is cleared. I just wonder how people consider Anwer Ali an allrounder. Score 5 or 6 fifties in lowly first class doesn't make some an allrounder. He has played a few matches for Pakistan and nothing suggests that he is an allrounder.

Our players should be practicing in Australian grounds to get use to the Australian conditions and not in some Khaddas of Pakistan!!

Pakistanis dont maintain fitness all the year around. Many average citizens of developed world are more fit than our players. Players only workout when they need to play, naturally their muscles dont develop like athletes and as a result they end up injuring themselves.
