BADIN, Sept 18: Leaking of natural gas from the gas field of Chak-25, Golarchi, Badin district, damaged 15 acres of paddy crops on Wednesday. Besides, it caused irritation in the eyes of the villagers.

However, the field staff took control of the situation within a few minutes.

PROTEST: Soon after the incident, at least a 100 growers and villagers held a protest demonstration against the negligence of the gas field staff. They were led by the councillor, Ramzan Samejo, Suleman and Gulsher.

The protesters observed a sit-in for two hours at the main gate of the gas field.

The growers alleged that due to the negligence of the gas field staff their lands and crops were damaged.

They demanded compensation for the loss of their crops.

They said that the gas field was located near their villages and the oil and gas company had taken no precautionary measures for their safety.

They ended their protest on the assurance from police officials that compensation would be provided to the victims.
