ATC hands down death penalty to three terrorists

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Friday awarded death sentence on 47 counts to three terrorists involved in attacking buildings of the Police Emergency Service (15) and an intelligence agency.

The court also awarded life imprisonment to each convict and imposed a collective fine of Rs25.35 million.

The Civil Lines police had registered a case against Abid Akram, Sarfraz and Shabbir for attacking the offices of the police and intelligence agency on May 27, 2009. At least 26 personnel were killed and 337 injured in the attack.

A prosecutor said the interrogators collected evidence from crime scene and identified the suspects with the help of CCTV cameras footage. The terrorists were arrested in Faisalabad and Lahore.

This government will not do anything to help further the cause of military courts because it will annoy its support base that is comprised of the right wing nut cases.

I pray they see the faces of all those they murdered now. I wish the mere time they are left with makes them realize how stupid they were listening to these retarded mullahs. I wish death stares them right in their eyes and agonizes them so much that they wished they were never born. These people don't even deserve a burial. Hang them and dump their bodies in militant infest areas so the rest know what fate awaits them. InshAllah one day Pakistan would be free from this cancer of terrorism. Ameen

some thing better then nothing it will take 10 more years to finalize the case as it will go to high court then supreme court than President, the evidence provided will be martyred by that time. Please expedite our judicary system to give speedy justice

The military courts are doing right job but the process is little bit slow. They should try to finish the job as soon as possible, which will be good for the country.

I don't under the logic of death penalty on 47 counts and life imprisonment. Wouldn't just a death penalty suffice?
