BAHAWALPUR: An election tribunal, headed by retired district and sessions judge Chaudhry Abdul Hafeez, unseated MPA Ghulam Murtaza Rahim Khar, accepting two identical writ petitions against him.

The election tribunal moved to the Election Commission to hold by-election in his constituency, PP-253.

Ghulam Murtaza Rahim Khar was elected Member of the Punjab Assembly as an independent candidate in 2013. His election was challenged by two defeated candidates, PML-N’s Younus Khan and PPP’s Ehsanul Haq, who had accused him of irregularities during the election process, and voting and other charges.

The election tribunal announced the verdict accepting the two petitions against Khar.
