PESHAWAR, Sept 18: The Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) has offered conditional support to the NWFP government and said it would not get involved in any move aimed at dislodging the provincial government.

Speaking at a news conference here at the Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, PML-N provincial chief Pir Sabir Shah said his party had extended unconditional support to the Muttahida Majlis- i-Amal government in the NWFP in the larger interest of democracy, which it later withdrew.

“In future we will support them issue-wise,” he added.

PML-N provincial general secretary Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and the party’s parliamentary leader in the NWFP assembly Anwar Kamal Khan were also present on the occasion.

Mr Shah categorical announced that the PML-N would not be a party to dislodging the NWFP government, but it would oppose wrongdoings of the provincial government.

He also advised the MMA leadership to disengage itself from the so-called negotiations with the ruling party, which was not in a position to strike a deal on the Legal Framework Order.

The king’s party was powerless in striking any deal with the opposition on the controversial issue of the LFO, he added.

He said the rulers were not sincere in resolving the political crisis.
