Woman dies of burns

LAHORE: A 22-year-old woman, who was set ablaze allegedly by her mother-in-law, died at Mayo Hospital on Tuesday.

Masti Gate police said Shama, of Boharwali, was set on fire by her mother-in-law Nasreen on January 23 for her inability to conceive.

She was shifted to the hospital by neighbours.

Police said her condition deteriorated on Tuesday morning and she succumbed to her injuries at 4pm.

Police said Shama in her last statement told them that her mother-in-law had sprinkled kerosene oil on her and set her ablaze.

Police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and added murder charges in the case.
