ISLAMABAD: Pakistani business leaders held business-to-business meetings with British investors at the third annual UK-Pakistan Trade and Investment Conference in London on Tuesday.

Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister for Pakistan Tobias Ellwood represented the British government while Chairman, Board of Investment (BoI), Miftah Ismail, led the delegates and business representatives from Pakistan.

More than 50 chief executive officers and representatives of the British as well as Pakistani companies attended the conference.

According to a BoI announcement, the conference was organised by UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) in collaboration with Pakistan High Commission London and was part of a series of events throughout the year designed to highlight business opportunities in Pakistan.

It followed the UK-Pakistan Energy Conference in November last which looked at how Pakistan could address its energy challenges, sharing UK expertise and experience in the energy sector.

Inaugurating the conference, Mr Tobias Ellwood told the business leaders that the UK was keen to play part in building Pakistan’s economy and opening doors for investment.

The BoI chairman informed the British investors that Pakistan is an investment destination of choice because of its large middle class and trained workforce, positive economic outlook with stable indicators, huge resource base, growing financial markets and very attractive investment policies.
