ISLAMABAD: Defence officials said Monday that the United States has assured Pakistan that Tehreek-i-Taliban (TTP) chief Mullah Fazlullah would either be arrested or killed in Afghanistan, adding that in case of an arrest he would be subsequently handed over to Pakistan.
Briefing a Senate Defence Committee in Islamabad, defence officials said that during his long visit to the US, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Raheel Sharif had also presented vital evidence of Indian involvement in subversive activities in Pakistan by using Afghan soil to top US intelligence and defence officials.

Defence officials said US would also give Pakistan 1 billion USD this year under the Coalition Support Fund (CSF).
The committee was briefed that the US would further give Pakistan used defence equipment to meet its security challenges for which the process had already begun.
Committee Chairman Mushahid Hussain and other members expressed displeasure over the absence of Defence Minister Khawaja Asif from the meeting.
A day after the Peshawar school attack, Gen Raheel had also visited Kabul where he sought handover of Mullah Fazalullah.

Fazlullah was elected TTP commander in November 2013, following the death of former leader Hakimullah Mehsud.
Under the leadership of Fazlullah, TTP claimed responsibility for the December 16, 2014 attack on a school in Peshawar that resulted in the deaths of at least 150 people, mostly students.

Prior to becoming TTP leader, Fazlullah claimed he was behind the killing of Pakistani Army Major General Sanaullah Niazi in September 2013, as well as ordering the shooting of schoolgirl and activist Malala Yousafzai in 2012.

Thing which we Pakistani being gullible as we are never try to understand or deliberately trying to avoid debating within ourselves is how on earth India can use Afghan soil to spread terrorism inside Pakistan, right under the nose of America? Did the Americans just wake up to this reality after so many years they spend inside Afghanistan as occupation force and king makers? And do we and our decisions makers seriously believe that the America will go after the Indian terror infra, the likes of Fazlullah and Khurasani lot, considering the honeymoon period these two nations are going through as we speak? Pakistan needs to act fast and on its own for its own security challenges, hedging bet on America yet again would be plain stupidity which our terrorism battered nation can ill afford.

Mullah Fazlullah is under US/Afghan protection since long. ~Why would they kill or hand him over now? the US drones don't work for fazlullah who is in Afghanistan for the past 4 yrs.
This is for Pakistan's consumption to make them quiet for a time being.

I love the naive comments of my fellow Pakistani brethren. Haha they actually think the US will handover and kill its strategic asset. Not until Pakistan kills Mullah Omar and the Quetta shoora that happen to reside in Quetta and Karachi. Pakistanis think taking money from America means friendship. No it actually means we are mere pawns in America's pursuit of its intersts. Pak army cannot secure its generals how can it save the country.

It may not be in Pakistan's interest to kill or arrest Fazalullah for now. It is due to him being appointed head of TTP that caused TTP factions to fight each other. If he vanishes then TTP faction may join hands again under some compromised evil personality.

@Awais Ali : Before 9/11 Pakistan was a slow growth country. In fact between 1996 and 2001 the growth rate had gone to a net of zero. After the 1998 Changi blasts Pakistan was deep in recession until 2002. 9/11 helped Pakistan to grow. There were many negative aspects to 9/11 for Pakistan, but lack of growth was not one of them.
