MELBOURNE: Pakistan’s tennis ace Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and his Serbian partner Nenad Zimonjic crashed out of the Australian Open after they were upset in the third round of the men’s doubles event on Sunday.

The eighth-seeded duo lost 3-6, 3-6 to the unseeded French pairing of Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut in a match that spanned just more than an hour.

While Herbert and Mahut advance to a quarter-final against compatriots Julien Benneteau and Edouard Roger-Vasselin, the defeat marked the end of Aisam’s campaign at the season-opening Grand Slam after he lost in the first round of the mixed doubles on Saturday.
