ISLAMABAD, Sept 16: President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday underscored the importance of strengthening of economic and commercial cooperation with the Republic of Korea.

He was talking to the vice-minister for foreign affairs and trade of the Republic of Korea, Kim Jae-sup, who conveyed to him the greetings of President Roh Moo-hyun and said he was looking forward to the Gen Musharraf’s visit to Seoul.

The fifth round of foreign secretary-level consultation between the two countries were also held. The visiting vice-minister and Foreign Secretary Riaz H. Khokhar led their countries’ teams.

The two sides reviewed bilateral, regional and international situation. Mr Khokhar emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful resolution of all outstanding issues with India.

Mr Kim briefed the meeting about the situation on the Korean peninsula.

The two sides exchanged views on forging cooperation in the economic, trade and cultural fields.—APP
