KARACHI: Pakistan football team captain Kaleemullah claimed a top individual honour when he was named Kyrgyzstan’s Player of the Year on Thursday.

The former Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) striker scored 18 goals to lead FC Dordoi to Kyrgyz League crown while adding four more goals as the Bishkek giants claimed the Kyrgyz Super Cup.

Kaleem became the most expensive player in Kyrgyzstan when he signed a two-year extension to his deal last year worth Rs10 million.

“Got the best player of the year award. Surely God has rewarded me more than I deserve,” Kaleem wrote on his Facebook page after beating team-mate Azamat Baymatov to the award.

“Thank you for your prayers and support everyone.”
