Director Ashutosh Gowariker's upcoming film Mohenjo Daro, which was initially set to release on January 22, 2016, will now hit the screens in August 2016, reported IANS.
According to a statement released the filmmakers, Mohenjo Daro, which is jointly produced by Disney India and Ashutosh Gowariker Productions Pvt. Ltd (AGPPL), will now release on Aug 12, 2016.
Mohenjo Daro, meaning Mound of the Dead in Sindhi, is a lost civilisation that was abandoned in 19th century. The city’s ruins lie in the Larkana district of Sindh, and are a designated Unesco World Heritage Site since 1980.
The film stars Hrithik and new comer Pooja Hegde in an epic adventure love story set at the time of the Indus Valley Civilization.
According to previous reports, Hrithik, who isn’t very familiar with the subject, is expected to meet archaeologists for extensive research.
This is Gowariker's fourth period film after Lagaan, Jodhaa Akbar and Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey and given the settings, the movie is likely to be a sweeping historical extravaganza, along the lines of Jodhaa Akbar and Lagaan.

You can read all about Mohenjo Daro in books and gain knowledge of the place to a certain extent. However, the best way to educate yourself is to gain the real experience by visiting the place.

Ashutosh Gowrikar only movie "Lagaan" was phenomenal, due to Amir Khan being the producer, otherwise rest of his movies are lack luster, poor screen play flopped at the box office, even though "Jodha Akbar" though ran successfully.

Mohenjo Daro, depicted on our currency notes, is the heritage of Pakistan with a history going back thousands of years. Indus (Darya-e-Sindh) Vally Civilization is just one glorious period of many. Us this regard, Pakistan really is the cradle of humanity and civilization.

That's great !! We need more movies like this for our kids to watch and learn about the great civilization.
We wish to travel to Pakistan some day and visit places like Mohenjodaro, Concordia, Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi along with the splendid mosques and forts all around the country.
Pakistan has a lot to offer to the world due to its cultural diversity, the architecture and the cuisine.
I hope the movie does justice to the history and the importance of this beautiful place. All the best !

what india got to do with mohenjodaro? its a Pakistani heritage build by ancient Pakistani, destroyed by floods , noah connection. there are much bigger matters here regarding ancient Pakistan rather some silly bollywood movie trying to distort the ancient Pakistani history.

@Euro it is the heritage of the Indian sub-continent..Pakistan's history is just 67 years old.. the Indus valley civilization is the history of the sub-continent...more so India because India is named after the river Indus..

Mohega Faro and Harrappa both of which were in Pakistan were Dravidian (South Indian) civilizations.
The civilizations ended when the nomadic Aryan tribes from Central Asia invaded.

@Sunil I always felt Swades is one of the best movies of Bollywood.. Jodha Akbar was better than any other historical movies of modern bollywood movies (generally all bollywood historic movies are crap).. Looking forward for Mohenjo Daro after disappointing dhoom 3, krish 3 and preachy PK..

Its good news but kindly make correct information. As you have written that meaning of "Mohen jo Daro" in Sindhi will be "mound of death". This is not correct. In Sindhi Mohen jo Daro mean. Mound of Mohan. Locally this city called as "Monhon"موھوں. This is not mound of death. No body knows who was Mohan, but this city called as Mound of Mohan, Mohen jo Daro.
