MIRPURKHAS: Mehmoodabad police have registered an FIR of an encounter at Ali Talpur town on Saturday in which five police officials and four dacoits were killed.

Gulshan Ali Maher, SHO of Sakhi Pir police station of Hyderabad, registered the case under Sections 302, 324, 353 and 6/7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at Mehmoodabad police station here late on Sunday night.

The police official stated in the FIR that they had received secret information about the presence in a house in Ali Talpur town of notorious bandits involved in kidnapping for ransom and other heinous crimes.

They contacted the SSP of Mirpurkhas and carried out the raid on the house along with Mirpurkhas police. The bandits opened fire on police, killing SHO of Market police station Wahid Bux Leghari, SHO of A-Section police station Hassan Ali Abidi, police constables Abdul Jabbar Shaikh, Dilber Hussain Unnar and Anwer Jameel, he said.

In retaliatory fire, all the four bandits identified as Shafiq Ilyas Narejo alias Chhoto Narejo, Wahab Narejo, Qurban Narejo and Jan Mohammad were killed in the encounter which continued throughout the night and ended early in the morning on Saturday.
