International moot on literature

KHAIRPUR: An international conference on ‘Literature, society and reconstruction — past, present and future’ will be held at the Shah Abdul Latif University (Salu) on Jan 14 and 15, a press statement issued by the university administration said on Tuesday.

Arrangements for the conference were reviewed at a meeting presided over by Salu vice chancellor Prof Dr Parveen Shah, it said. She told the meeting that the conference, organised with the collaboration of the Higher Education Commission, would provide a platform to participants for the promotion of culture and literature.

Faculty of Social Sciences and Arts dean Dr Mohammad Yousuf Khushk briefed the meeting about the arrangements.He said scholars from 17 countries including the United States, Sweden, Spain, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey, Egypt, India, Germany and Canada would present their papers.

He said that Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah would be the chief guest and HEC chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, retired Justice Syed Ali Aslam Jafferi and Sindh governor’s principal secretary Mohammad Hussain Syed would be the guests of honor at the conference.

The concluding session would be presided over by PPP MNA Nafisa Shah, he added. Dr Khushk said that an international mushaira, to be presided over by Prince Mir Mehdi Raza Talpur, was among the features of the event.
