LAHORE, Dec 21: A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Friday granted bail to the main accused in a fraud case of Rs280 million in the Emirates Bank, Lahore, on a bail petition against surety bonds of Rs0.5 million and two personal sureties.

The petition filed by Arif Khokhar, manager Cantt Branch of the bank through his counsel Ziaul Qamar Bhatti submitted that the other main accused Farrukh Karamat, son of ex-chief of army staff Jehangir Karamat, had already been bailed out by the trial court and he was also exonerated from the charges.

The bench comprised Justice Sheikh Abdur Razzaq and Justice Bashir A Mujahid.

WARRANTS FOR XEN: Justice Syed Jamshed Ali of the Lahore High Court on Friday issued arrest warrants for Gujranwala canal division XEN for not complying with the court order and directed the district coordination officer (DCO) to produce the XEN on Jan 17 with relevant record.

The court observed that negligent officials should be punished.

The petition filed by Muhammad Saleh through his counsel Zahid Javed submitted that water outlet situated at his land was closed despite the district administration’s restriction.

He said that he approached the court which thrice called for a report and comments from the XEN but he failed to appear or submit a report. He prayed the court to take action and direct to restore his water outlet.—APP
