RAWALPINDI, Sept 13: The four-day meeting of the Pakistan-US Defence Consultative Group will be held in Washington from September 15-18.

A 14-member Pakistani defence delegation will leave for Washington on Sunday to take part in the meeting, says a press release issued here on Saturday by the Ministry of Defence.

Defence Secretary Lt-Gen Hamid Nawaz Khan (retired) will lead the Pakistan side, while Mr Douglas J. Feith, US Under-Secretary for Defence, will be at the head of US team.

The Defence Consultative Group has been sub-divided into three working groups which will hold discussions on various agenda items pertaining to cooperation in training, exercises, equipment and counter-terrorism and finalize the minutes before the concluding session on Sept 18. The opening and closing sessions will be co-chaired by the leaders of the two delegations.

The Pakistan-US Defence Consultative Group founded in 1984 was re-established last year in accordance with the decisions taken during President Pervez Musharraf’s visit to Washington in February 2002.

The last meeting was held in Rawalpindi from Sept 24-27, 2002.
