ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has decided to hold a rally in Islamabad on January 17, DawnNews reported.

Sources said the decision was made during a meeting by the PTI’s strategic committee and will be held at D-Chowk in the federal capital.

However, the purpose of the rally was not mentioned.

The PTI had announced on December 17 their decision to suspend countrywide protests, in the aftermath of a terrorist attack on a Peshawar school that killed 132 children.

Imran Khan had announced the party’s decision to suspend their protest movement saying that the country was in need of unity.

The PTI, along with Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), had launched a campaign against the government of PM Nawaz Sharif in August, demanding that he resign over alleged rigging in last year’s polls.
