Top four in semis of Commissioner Cup women’s squash

KARACHI: Top four seeds, as expected, cruised into the last four of the fifth Hyderabad Commissioner Cup National Women’s Squash Championship at the Hyderabad Gymkhana courts on Friday.

According to results, top seed and former champion Zoya Khalid disposed off wildcard Tehrima Islam 11-5, 11-6, 11-7 to set a date with holder Rushana Mehboob who got the better of Saima Shoukat 11-4, 11-6, 10-12, 11-3 in the other quarter-final.

In the two other matches, third seed Sadia Gul was home straight over Zahab Khan 11-6, 11-5, 11-5 and now she will be up against second seed Riffat Khan who carved out 11-9, 10-12, 11-8, 11-4 victory over Amna Latif.

The event which is held under the aegis of Sindh Squash Association in collaboration with Hydeabad District Squash Association was inaugurated the other day by Superintendent Engineer Wapda Mohammad Akbar Durrani.

Sindh Squash Association president Tahir Khanzada, Mrs Zeba Tariq, Syed Ashraf Shah and Aijaz Shaikh were also present.

Zoya Khalid (ZTBL) bt Madina Zafar (SNGPL) 18-20 7-11, 11-2, 11-7, 11-3; Tehrima Islam (Sindh) bt Farah Mansoor (Punjab) 11-5, 11-6, 11-3; Saima Shoukat (Wapda) bt Roshail Shaikh (Sindh) 11-7, 11-2, 11-5; Rushana Mehboob (ZTBL) bt Aroma Kamran (Punjab) 11-3, 11-2, 11-3; Sadia Gul (SNGPL) bt Bushra Khalid (Punjab) 11-5, 11-3, 11-6; Zahab Khan (Sindh) bt Habiba Khan(ZTBL) 11-5, 10-12, 11-9, 11-8; Amna Latif (ZTBL) bt Neha Khan (Sindh) 11-3, 11-7, 11-4; Riffat Khan (ZTBL) bt Noor-ul-Huda (Sindh) 11-3, 11-4, 11-7.
