LAHORE: The Lahore police finalised a security plan on Thursday for educational institutions in the Punjab capital and asked their administrations to make security arrangements in two weeks or they would not be allowed to open campuses.

According to the security plan revealed by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) retired Captain Amin Wains, the school administrations should establish vintage points, install surveillance cameras, erect boundary walls to a reasonable height and ensure the deployment of security guards on their campuses.

The CCPO unveiled the plan at a meeting of officials where foolproof security plans for schools, colleges and universities of the city were discussed.

Deputy Inspector General

(operations) Dr Haider Ashraf, City Traffic Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema and divisional superintendent of police were present.

Mr Wains said schools, colleges and universities were divided into four categories: A+, A, B and C. He said they would appoint police snipers on the rooftops of A+ category institutions and ensure patrolling of elite force in their surroundings.

The CCPO asked the DIG to be in touch with the heads of A+, A and B categories institutions.

The police, however, did not choose to share data on schools falling in different categories.
