Phutti arrivals up

MULTAN: The arrival of phutti (seed-cotton) registered an increase of 8.03 per cent till Dec 15 and stood at 13.23 million bales as compared to the corresponding period of last year. Since the arrival of phutti, 12.36m bales have undergone ginning process, according to Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA).

Arrival in Punjab stood at 9,448,451 bales which is 9.41pc more than the corresponding period of last year. Sindh received 3.78m bales, an increase of 4.74pc over last year. The Trading Corporation of Pakistan lifted 61,600 bales: 19,400 bales from Sindh and 42,200 bales from Punjab.

Exporters bought 351,230 bales: 299,810 bales from Sindh and 51,420 from Punjab. Textile millers purchased 10,597,225 bales, including 2,746,282 bales from Sindh and the remaining 7,839,611 bales from Punjab.

While, 11,010,055 bales were sold, the remaining unsold stock stood at 2,223,931 bales.
