LAHORE, Sept 11: The Punjab Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee-I has sought a report about bureaucrats utility bills.

The committee which met here on Thursday to discuss audit paras pertaining to commissioners and deputy commissioners’ utility bills in 1997-98, directed the finance department and the Board of Revenue to submit a comprehensive report on revising upward ceilings of utility bills for high officers keeping in view the rising utility charges.

It, however, directed that promotion cases of the officers against whom audit paras were pending should not be forwarded to the authority concerned.

The committee discussed audit paras regarding the Lahore commissioner, and deputy commissioners of Hafizabad, Gujrat, Attock, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Faisalabad and Sialkot.

Meanwhile, election to chairman of the PA’s standing committee on wildlife were held here on Thursday.

According to results, MPA Asghar Chaudhry was elected its chairman.

Election to the standing committee on sports will be held on Friday (today).
