LAHORE: The Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (Tepa) will construct five pedestrian overhead (steel) bridges at five locations of the signal-free Ferozepur Road.

According to the LDA administration, the project worth Rs100 million will be executed at five busy locations under the elevated track of Metro Bus Service, where a large number of pedestrians have to cross the road daily.

These points are situated between Qartaba Chowk and LOS junction, Shama Chowk and Ichhra Bazaar, Shah Jamal junction between Shah Jamal intersection and Rehmanpura Mor and at Ghazi Chowk. The average length of the deck of these bridges will be 45 metres while their width will be 2.8m. Stairs of these bridges will be 2.07m wide.

Elevated track of the Metro Bus Service is 7.1m high from the road level whereas the height of the pedestrian bridge will be 5.2m from ground.

“Tenders for construction of these bridges are being invited very soon and construction work will start during the first week of January and is scheduled to be completed within four months,” an LDA spokesman said in a statement issued here on Thursday.
