SHEIKHUPURA: Four of a family were gunned down while two women and a teenager injured by their close relatives over a matrimonial dispute in Dera Ghaus in Bhiki police limits on Monday.

According to police, Zaheer Abbas had married his cousin, Rasheeda Bibi, about 10 years ago and later went to the US. Returning from abroad recently, Zaheer secretly contracted second marriage.

Rasheeda’s brother Faisal got wind of Zaheer’s second marriage and got infuriated. On Monday, Faisal along with some other relatives barged in the house of Zaheer and opened indiscriminate fire.

Resultantly, Zaheer, his brother Adeel, father Abbas and uncle Rehan Akhtar died on the spot while Nazeeran Bibi, Rasheeda Bibi and teenager Adnan were injured.

The suspects fled the scene.

Bhiki police have registered a case.

In another incident, a woman and a man were killed in a road accident on GT Road near Kala Shah Kaku on Monday.

According to police, motorcyclist Nazeer was hit by a Lahore-bound van. Following the clash, the motorcycle’s petrol tank exploded and caught fire. As a result, Nazeer and pillion Amna Bibi died of severe burns.

Ferozewala police are investigating.
