KARAK: A local court on Thursday acquitted a suspect in a case about the killing former minister Mian Nisar Gul’s nephew for lack of evidence.

The police later shifted Intazar Gul to house amid tight security.

Mian Saeed Gul was killed at a polling station during the 2013 general elections in Sabirabad.

Later, the family of the deceased named Intazar Gul and his brother, Hamraz Gul, as killers in the FIR.

The defence and prosecution completed arguments in the case on Thursday.

Later, district and sessions judge Karak Liaquat Saleem Marwat announced the release of Intazar Gul for lack of evidence.

The bail plea of Intazar Gul was rejected first by the local courts and later by the Peshawar High Court, Bannu bench.

IDPS TURN BEGGARS: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Sami leader Maulana Abdur Rauf Farooqi on Thursday claimed many of the people displaced from the tribal areas due to military operation had turned to begging for sustenance.

He was addressing the party’s workers convention at Shuhada Park of Takht-i-Nusrati here.

The JUI-S leader said dictatorship had been imposed in the country in the name of democracy.

He said unless Islamic system was not introduced in the country, the current socioeconomic and security crises would persist.

Farooqi said his party would continue working for the enforcement of Islamic laws in the country.

Another JUI-S leader, Maulana Yousaf Shah, alleged all political parties were involved in corruption.

He claimed his was the only party, whose leaders were not involved corrupt practices.

“We want to create a corruption-free society,” he said.

Shah said it was unfortunate that the government accused seminaries and their students of creating law and order situation in many parts of the country.

He said the government should ensure the grant of due rights to the people of Karak.
