KARACHI: Pakistan’s Mohammad Sajjad kept his unbeaten run intact by getting the better of Duane Jones of Wales 5-2 to make pre-quarterfinals of the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) world amateur championship in Bangalore on Thursday.

Sajjad surged to a 3-0 lead to have a firm grip on the match before he suddenly lost his touch conceding the next two frames that reduced his lead to 3-2.

Needing just two frames to win, he quickly regained his form by taking the following two frames in a one-sided fashion to complete the rout.

The scores were 64-24, 70-43, 68-8, 25-62, 0-86, 90-0, 80-4.

Jones was the first to register a solid break of 83 in the fifth frame while Sajjad bounced back mustering a break of 90 in the sixth.

At the time of filing this report, Sajjad was up against Malaysian Thou Chuanleong, the reigning Asian champion, in the pre quarter-final.

The latter made it to the last-16 after defeating compatriot Keen Hoo Moh 5-1 in the other encounter.

Result:

Mohammad Sajjad (Pakistan) bt Duane Jones (Wales) 5-2 (64-24, 70-43, 68-8, 25-62, 0-86, 90-0, 80-4).
