Blind World Cup matches postponed for a day

CAPE TOWN: All the cricket matches of the Blind Cricket World Cup which were scheduled to be played here on the first day of the tournament were postponed for a day to mourn the tragic death of Australian batsman Phil Hughes who died in a Sydney hospital on Thursday.

Pakistan were to face England while Sri Lanka were to meet Australia in the inaugural matches of the 4th Blind World Cup. The tournament will now officially commence from Friday.

Meanwhile, all the participating teams and their officials gathered at the Cape Town cricket ground to offer condolence prayer for Hughes.

President of World Blind Cricket Council Sultan Shah was also present on the occasion alongwith other council representatives and members of the Blind World Cup organising committee.

The president of Blind Cricket Australia, Ray Moxly, also attended the prayers.

In tomorrow’s matches, Pakistan will meet India while South Africa will take on England.
