Highrise buildings

Published November 27, 2014

THE Sindh government seems to be in a hurry to allow highrise buildings beyond 12-storey. One is baffled by the speed with which such buildings are being constructed. The Cantinment Board, Karachi, is conveniently expediting the matter at its end. It is suggested that for every floor above 12 there is a payment of Rs10m. Given that, most of these buildings are nearly 20-storey high, and some people are benefiting from the situation.

Where will they be supplied water and power from and in case of an emergency how will they be evacuated or how will a fire be brought under control?

The chief minister should stop all these immediately.
