METZ: Champions Paris St Germain went top of Ligue 1 for the first time this season when Ezequiel Lavezzi’s late goal earned a 3-2 win at Metz on Friday, the club’s first victory there in 11 years.

The Argentina forward slid home a rebound in the 83rd minute after Metz goalkeeper Johann Carrasso had denied Zlatan Ibrahimovic to give PSG 30 points from 14 games, two ahead of Olympique Marseille who take on Girondins Bordeaux on Sunday.

PSG were 2-0 up after 16 minutes after Javier Pastore’s chip in the ninth minute was followed by Gaetan Bussmann’s own goal but they conceded two penalties in four minutes early in the second half, both converted by Modibo Maiga.

“I was always confident even after Metz equalised. I told myself that we were going to win 3-2,” said PSG coach Laurent Blanc. “We were in charge in the first half against a Metz team who had a lot of fear and this made it easier for us.”
