LAHORE: Overnight leader Jamal Nasir with a two-day net score of 136 maintained his top position on the second day of the 31st Governor’s Punjab Golf Championships at the Lahore Gymkhana course here on Saturday.

In the first round, he was spectacular and on the second day he pursued his victory goal with equal excellence.

Through consistent performance, Jamal had 10 regulation pars, one birdie on the 12th hole and the bogeys were encountered on holes 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 14 and 17. For a nine handicapper this represents tremendous effort.

Ahsan Khawaja (137), Hamza Mansoor (139) and Waleed Zubair (140) occupy the second, third and fourth positions, closely.

Other contenders with mentionable scores are Ameer Khawaja (142), Taimur Shabbir (143), Usman Saleem Cheema (143) and Faisal Sayid (146).

Also at a net aggregate score of 146 are Brig M. Masood (Gujranwala), Farooq A. Khan (Gymkhana) and Dr Dildar Hussain (Gymkhana).

Wazir Ali of Gymkhana managed to move into the first gross position with a gross round of 74 on the second day.

His aggregate for two rounds is 149 and he is two strokes ahead of Robin Bagh (Sargodah) and Salman Jehangir (Gymkhana).

Waleed Zubair (Gymkhana) is placed at two days aggregate of 152 followed by M. Rehman (Royal Palm) at 155.

Shahzadi Gulfam of Punjab Police was leading the ladies’ net event with a round of 71.

Zeb-un-Nisa of Royal Palm was trailing by one stroke and finished the round at net 72.

At third position was Sameea Javed Ali of Gymkhana with a score of net 73.
