‘Speeches in Urdu’

Published November 22, 2014

THIS is apropos of Mr Wasim Hashmi Syed’s letter ‘Speeches in Urdu’ (Nov 15) in which he mentioned that in the recent convocation by NUST, Islamabad, all the speeches that were delivered were in Urdu.

I would like to emphasise here that it was the University of Karachi that was the first to initiate the proceedings of holding the convocation in Urdu. For the last 25 years, all speeches have been delivered in Urdu at KU convocations.
