KARACHI: Pakistan’s Hamza Akbar suffered a 3-4 loss at the hands of Thailand’s Kritsanut Lertsattayathorn in his opening group C fixture of the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) men’s world amateur snooker championships in Bangalore on Wednesday.

According to results made available here, the Thai carved out a 59-55, 56-36, 1-75, 58-10, 4-60, 30-61, 87-40 victory over his opponent. The Thai surged 2-0 and 3-1 up but Hamza drew level 3-all before losing the seventh and decisive frame.

The Thai conjured up a break of 57 in the fourth frame while Hamza replied with an efficient 60 in the sixth.

The matches of Hamza’s two other compatriot’s Mohammad Sajjad and Mohammad Asif Toba were in progress at the time of filing this report.
